At TopLine Federal Credit Union, our most important customer is you. We’re committed to providing every customer we serve with a banking experience that meets their individual needs. We offer premium personal service, bargain loan rates, competitive savings rates and low fees.

Mission Statement

Delivering TopLine personal service people can bank on.

The Credit Union Benefit

Credit unions are member-owned cooperatives that promote thrift and make loans from accumulated savings. Credit unions are in business for service, not for profit. We encourage our customers to accumulate savings as a means of building economic security and achieving a greater degree of financial stability for themselves and their families.

Membership is Ownership

Customers can choose from a variety of savings accounts, and the money they put into their account is, in turn, loaned to other members. After operating expenses and reserve requirements are met, all profits are returned to customers in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates and improved service. All TopLine savings accounts are insured up to at least $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a federal agency.

Membership at TopLine Federal Credit Union is open to individuals who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in the Twin Cities counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington in Minnesota. Their immediate family members are also eligible for membership. Upon approval of a membership application and a deposit of $5 or more in a share savings account, customers become owners with voting rights.

TopLine Federal Credit Union is owned and managed by its membership. Each TopLine customer has one vote regardless of deposit balance. A volunteer Board of Directors is elected annually to represent all TopLine customers. The board has the authority to set loan limits and establish interest rates. At TopLine, all customers profit, individually and collectively.

History

TopLine Federal Credit Union has a history of growth and expansion that spans several decades. First chartered in 1935 when seven employees of the Bell System pooled $35 to create Minneapolis Telco Credit Union, the organization later expanded to include employees of independent telephone companies throughout the state of Minnesota.

Today, TopLine serves more than 31,000 customers. We have achieved this growth largely by cross-selling new and existing products and services, securing new employee groups and merging smaller credit unions.

In 1985, the credit union’s field of membership was expanded to include employee groups, and in 1988 we began to actively pursue the addition of these groups to achieve growth. We converted from a state charter to a federal charter in 1996 to better position the credit union for future success. The conversion allowed greater tax savings, streamlined the regulatory process, and simplified the employee group affiliation process.

Over the years, our family of membership has grown from seven to more than 31,000, and assets have grown from that initial $35 to more than $200 million. In July of 2002, we expanded our charter to include individuals and their immediate family members who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in Hennepin County.

Today, TopLine Federal Credit Union remains a member-owned financial institution dedicated to helping members achieve their financial goals by offering quality financial products and services at competitive rates. Our primary objective is to remain a high- performance, full-service financial organization providing the highest quality member service available in the financial arena. To that end, we are dedicated to achieving growth in an evolving and increasingly competitive market.
